First Colorwork Cowl Class

This introductory class to stranded knitting will give you the tools to choose pleasing color combinations.  You will learn how to speed swatch to determine gauge and get a sense of how the colors selected work together.  Yarn management and float tension will be covered as well as chart reading and working in the round.

 

This is a three session class.

Thursdays November 7, 14, & 21 from 10 - noon.

 Cost: $75.00

Prerequisites: The student must be able to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off as well has have some previous experience knitting and completing a project.


Skills Taught: Picking colors for colorwork, speed swatching, stranded knitting (also called fair isle), chart reading and working in the round.

Materials: To be purchased at GarenHuis Yarn Studio 

  1. First Colorwork Cowl pattern
  2. Worsted weight yarn, see pattern for quantity
  3. 16 inch circular and 24 inch circular needles in a size that meets gauge
  4. Stitch marker and tapestry needle.
  5. Colorwheel or color grid.
